Twintech and USPI Form Strategic Partnership to Advance FL3DMS Standards in EPC
Twintech Limited and USPI-NL have entered into a strategic partnership to align the Konnect xD platform with FL3DMS — the international standard for 3D model management in capital project industries.
Dubai, UAE — October 2025
Twintech Limited, developer of the Konnect xD digital platform for EPC industries, and USPI-NL, the standards body responsible for the FL3DMS specification, today announced a strategic partnership to integrate FL3DMS compliance into the Konnect xD platform architecture.
The partnership formalises an alignment that has been developing through Twintech's engagement with USPI-NL's working groups over the past year. FL3DMS — the Facility Lifecycle 3D Model Specification — defines how 3D models should be structured, maintained, and exchanged across the lifecycle of industrial facilities. It is a critical standard for EPC contractors, asset owners, and engineering software vendors operating in the capital projects space.
Why FL3DMS Matters
The 3D model of an industrial facility is one of its most valuable information assets. A high-quality AVEVA E3D or SmartPlant 3D model contains geometry, equipment attributes, nozzle data, structural connections, and hundreds of other data points that touch every phase of the facility lifecycle — from design through construction, commissioning, and operations.
Without a consistent standard for how that model is structured and exchanged, every project reinvents the data management wheel. Contractors deliver models in formats that asset owners can't easily consume. Interoperability breaks down. The data richness of the 3D model fails to reach downstream users who need it most.
FL3DMS addresses this by defining the model content requirements, delivery formats, and acceptance criteria that enable consistent 3D model handover across the industry.
What the Partnership Delivers
Through this partnership, Twintech will work with USPI-NL to develop FL3DMS validation capabilities within the Konnect xD platform. This means EPC contractors using Konnect xD will be able to validate their 3D model deliverables against FL3DMS requirements as part of their standard project workflow — catching compliance gaps before they reach the asset owner review stage.
For asset owners, the partnership means that projects executed on Konnect xD will produce FL3DMS-compliant deliverables as a structural outcome of the platform's data management workflow, rather than as a manual compliance exercise performed at handover.
Quotes
Saber Belghith, CEO, Twintech Limited: "FL3DMS represents exactly the kind of industry-wide standard that makes digital integration possible. By building compliance into the Konnect xD workflow, we remove the compliance burden from individual project teams and make it a platform capability."
